Colin fell in love with the land the moment he laid eyes on its 1000-year-old yew trees, trout streams, and two spectacular castles.
The rolling parkland course is the perfect addition to the impressive portfolio of courses he has created in partnership with European Golf Design, including the acclaimed Carton House Golf Club in Dublin, the Royal Golf Club at Riffa Views, Bahrain, The Dutch Golf Club in Holland and Papillon Golf Club in Turkey.
Drawing from his experience of playing tournament golf on the finest courses in the world, Colin is using the natural rolling contours of Rowallan and blending links features like pot bunkers to create a parkland course that will be relevant for all ages and abilities of golfers.
When I saw the land I fell in love with it. I aim to build a course that will compliment the spectacular old links courses we are so lucky to have in Ayrshire.
Golfers will marvel at the way Colin Montgomerie and his team have shaped the course with sensitivity to provide not only a fair test of golf, but also a haven for local flora and fauna. Players will negotiate winding streams, impressive mature woodlands, and even a Bronze Age settlement
Uniquely, Rowallan Castle also boasts a 19th hole… “The Decider”. This testing 155-yard par 3 is where serious golfers will settle their bets before enjoying well-deserved refreshment in the other 19th.
Whoever laid out the estate hundreds of years ago has gifted us some of the best views in the country, and two magnificent castles to frame the development.
From the stunning views from the course to Ailsa Craig and Arran glistening in the Firth of Clyde to the abundance of flora and fauna, a round at Rowallan is a golfing memory that never fades. Why not try it for yourself?
