ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

We understand the importance of accessibility to everyone visiting Rowallan Castle, including young children, the elderly and those with disabilities.

We have compiled this Access Statement to give assurance to our visitors that we have done everything possible to make their stay comfortable. We will try to ensure staff, guests and visitors to Rowallan Castle are treated equally and according to their needs.

PRIOR TO ARRIVAL

Rowallan Castle is situated in rural countryside. The nearest main town is Kilmarnock, approximately 3 miles away.
The nearest train station is Kilmaurs, 3 miles away, with train links to Glasgow, Troon and Carlisle.
The nearest bus station is in Kilmarnock, with buses running throughout Ayrshire and to Glasgow and Lanarkshire.
Arrangements can be made for private transport by calling Reception on 01563 530550.
All rooms within the Castle are strictly non-smoking.

ENTRANCE

A lift with voice control is located on the ground floor and accesses the first and second floors.
A Lounge, Conference Room and Breakfast Dining Room are all located on the ground floor.
Specially adapted toilets are also located on the ground floor.

BEDROOMS & BATHROOMS

Accessible bedrooms are located on the first and second floor.
All bedrooms have telephones situated at low level.
All bedrooms have low level sockets.
All bedrooms have TV’s with subtitles.
Twin or double room combinations are available.
There is both visual and audible indication of a fire alarm system in all bedrooms.
Flooring in the bedrooms is short pile carpeting.
All bedrooms have an en-suite free standing bath.
If a walk in shower is required, please advise when booking.
A fully adapted bathroom and shower room is situated on the ground floor.

CONFERENCE ROOM

The Conference Room is situated on the ground floor and has good natural light.
A white board, projector, screen and writing pads are all available for meetings.

EVACUATION PROCEDURE

We have a set evacuation procedure
The alarm signal is a constant high pitch siren, both internally and externally in all areas, including bedrooms.
In the event of evacuation, please leave by the nearest exit and congregate in the front car park. This procedure will be explained to you on arrival by the Duty Manager.
If you require assistance in the event of evacuation, please advise the Duty Manager on arrival and a member of staff will come to your room.

FEEDBACK FROM YOUR VISIT

In order to enhance the service we provide, we welcome any feedback you may have. A Visitor’s Comments book is situated in The Library for your use.

CAR PARKING & ACCESS INTO THE CASTLE

There is free parking for up to 30 cars directly outside the Castle.
There are two bays allocated for disabled access.
There is a ramp leading into the Castle to the right of the main door.

PUBLIC AREAS

The Ballroom, Library and Formal Dining Room are located on the first floor.
A balcony can be accessed from the Ballroom.
Seating arrangements and furniture can be moved if required.
Menus can be enlarged if requested.
If dining in the Castle, waitress service will be available.

BUTLER’S ROOM

The Butler’s Room is situated on the first floor.
The refrigerator will have fresh milk and bottled water.
Additional towels will also be stored in the Butler’s Room.
A first aid kit, sewing kit, shoe polishing kit and other items for your convenience will be stored in the Butler’s Room.

GROUNDS

As the Castle sits on the edge of a golf course, please be aware of the risk of being hit by a golf ball.
