CIBSE Golf Day
Rowallan Castle Golf Club were delighted to host the second annual CIBSE Golf Day last Friday. With challenging weather conditions 80 golfers battled through the elements to complete the round, followed by a fantastic meal in The Glasshouse Restaurant after play.
On the first tee we had Wilson Golf doing the #D300 Challenge to see how many yards you can gain with the correct driver. Amazingly 80 yards was the biggest improvement on the day.
Hole 8 was sponsored by Daiken where there was a bar behind the green to keep all golfers refreshed.
On hole 19 Rowallan Castle hosted the MacMillan Challenge where nearest the pin won a hamper full of fantastic prizes.
If you are looking to host a golf day, the CIBSE golf day is one of many golf days we have hosted. To get more information please call 01563 530550 or email david@rowallancastle.com

AYRSHIRE SENIORS CHAMPIONSHIP – Alex Macneil takes title at sunny Seafield
In perfect, sunny, weather, 19 handicapper MacNeil was round in 81 shots for a nett score of 62, six under par, which gave him victory over Charles McMurtrie (Troon Welbeck) in the chase for the Sandy Provan Trophy.
One handicapper Henry Thompson (Irvine) returned the best scratch score of the day with a three over par 71, by virtue of the best inward half over Allan Coulter (Ayr Belleisle), though Coulter had the consolation of taking a nett prize in his age category.

Rowallan Castle 36 Hole OOM Challenge
Aberdonian Scott Henderson, Kings Links Golf Centre’s long-serving tour pro, scored his first Order of Merit tournament win for quite some time in a tight finish to the Rowallan Castle 36-hole OOM Challenge.
Henderson, 47, European Tour Rookie of the Year in 1997, the year after he won the Northern Open in a gale at Cruden Bay, had five birdies (short fifth, seventh, short eighth, long 13th and 14th, offset by two bogeys (fourth and 11th) in halves of 33 (two under) and 35 (one under) for a three-under-par 68 to add to his opening 70.
His four-under-par total of 138 won him the £1,200 first prize by one shot from Steven O’Hara (North Lanarkshire Leisure) who had the round of the day, a five-under-par 66, which could not quite make up the leeway after a first-round 73.
O’Hara had an eagle 3 at the par-5 third and five birdies in halves of 32 and 34.
His third bogey of the day came at the 18th which cost him a play-off against Henderson. Steven had to settle for the £900 runner-up prize.
Sam Binning (Mearns Castle Golf Academy) earned £700 for third place on 140 (71-69). He parred the last six holes after birdies at the third, fourth, 10th and 12th in halves of 35-34.
Overnight co-leaders Paul McKechnie and Gareth Wright failed to break par at the final attempt. Wright, with only one birdie on his card, had a 72 for 142 and a share of fourth place for a £332.50 payslip.
McKechnie had five birdies but also a triple bogey 7 at the 11th and double bogey 5s at two short holes, the second and the eighth in scoring a 73 for 141 and a share of eighth place for a £200 reward. Rowallan would like to thank all of the PGA staff, The Glasshouse Restaurant and Robert and his team for their hard work on the lead up to and during the event.
